The start of a New Year is the perfect time to take a deeper look into your marketing efforts, how your business is performing and what you could be doing to make more of each and every opportunity. To give you a nudge in the right direction, Interdirect has put together its top 5 marketing resolutions for 2018:

1.    Revisit your marketing plan.

Planning is everything, and a well-considered marketing plan will help you stay on track and keep you focused on working towards your business goals. Look at your messaging and the way you present your business.  Take a look at how your marketing activity played out last year and what lessons you can take for this year. Put it down on a piece of paper and make sure your team are on board and ready to implement!

2.      Content marketing is still king.

This year it’s more important to get the content right! Long blog posts that are relevant and engaging have much more impact than more frequent, shorter ones that are written for the sake of posting something…anything. So take the time to plan out your blogs.

3.       Do a website audit.

Is your website customer-friendly? Does it perform the way that you want it to? Is the look and feel of the site aligned with your brand and does it appeal to your target audiences? Is the content fresh and up-to-date?  Are your target customers finding you online? A website is arguably the most important aspect of your marketing mix, it is the shop window to your business and should be the central point of all of your marketing activity.  Take time to get it right and make sure it’s working as hard as it possibly can.

4.     Understand your analytics

Did you see the results and return on investment that you were hoping for from your marketing activity last year? Did you add tracking to your campaigns to allow you see the impact that they created? If not, then 2018 is the year to get tracking and analysing! There are a whole host of marketing analytics tools that you can use to track and analyse your campaigns. With this wealth of information you can tailor you marketing efforts and boost your results.

5.       Above all make sure that you are GDPR compliant before May 2018!

If GDPR seems a bit over-whelming and you’re not sure where to start, we can guide you through the process. We can help you to audit your data, review your data collection process, create a data repository and data access audit, and help you with updating your privacy policy content. It’s time to start working towards compliance.
