Interdirect gets Sporty this summer

When you think of a marketing agency, sporting superstars don’t tend to jump to your mind, and justifiably so. For a company that’s more au fait with analytics and servers than we are with athletics and stretching, we’ve been remarkably active lately.

On 4th July, a team of six limbered up for the first of two sports days we’ve taken part in this summer. The first event, organised by law firm, Howes Percival, saw 11 teams compete in a number of sporting activities at Northampton Casuals Rugby Club.

All teams gave a donation in order to take part, with proceeds going towards Howes Percival’s charity of the year – Diabetes UK.

With beanbag balancing, welly wanging and sack races taking place throughout the afternoon, there was plenty of entertainment and mildly competitive team building to be had at the event. We were crowned the ‘balls-under-the-chin’ champions (our mothers are SO proud), but unfortunately didn’t get the overall accolade of winners on the day.

Interdirect’s team, aptly named ‘All the gear, no IDea’ didn’t qualify for a place on the podium, but with a hog roast to close the competition and plenty of laughs throughout the afternoon, the team had fantastic fun all the same.

The next event – the Leap Business Games 2017, took place on 14th July at Woughton Playing Fields in MK. Competitors included teams from MK Council, Grant Thornton and Mirus IT, to name but a couple.

There were different zones with different challenges, which included a mini school sports day, disk golf, inflatable table football (we’re still recovering from the bruised shins!) culminating in a giant 100m inflatable assault course finale.

Sadly we didn’t walk away from the day with any medals, but the delicious barbecue after the prize giving ceremony more than made up for our lack of prizes!

We’d like to thank both Howes Percival and Leap MK for arranging such fun afternoons, as soon as our muscles recover, we’re going to be starting our training for next year!
