Whittlebury Hall Website

In 2012 Whittlebury Hall Hotel & Spa appointed Interdirect to develop a brand new website. Four years later, wanting to take advantage of all that’s new on the web, they challenged us to do it again!

Located near Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, Whittlebury Hall Hotel & Spa is an award-winning hotel, spa and conference centre. It has over 300 staff and 254 double bedrooms.



The Challenge



Whittlebury Hall challenged Interdirect to upgrade its website to give it a more contemporary look and feel, so as to better showcase its diverse leisure and business offer. It was important to capitalise upon recent developments in website technology, and especially to better cater to mobile users, in order to make it much easier for them to browse and book packages online, thereby further increasing online bookings.



The Work



We conducted extensive research in order to gather vital information on the usage of the current booking process (through online surveys and the analysis of goal tracking and behaviour funnels). This insight was instrumental in helping us to shape the design and development of the new website.



Working with a third-party to develop a bespoke API, we integrated an external booking system into the website, which revolutionised the user experience.



Through a simplified booking wizard, users are able to view real-time availability and pricing on spa and leisure packages. Other new, useful features and functionality were incorporated to enhance the user journey for both leisure and business guests including:




  • A package finder.

  • Package tool comparison.

  • Live chat

  • Online class booking for gym members.

  • Interactive meeting room finder.

  • Unique brochure builder enabling Bookers and Agents to compile information about Whittlebury Hall in just a few clicks.



The Difference



In the first three months alone, the new website achieved a return on investment of 2,875% and orders received via a non-desktop device were well above the UK average at 60%.



Today, over 90% of all Whittlebury Hall bookings are transacted online and conversion rates across all areas have risen dramatically,



In particular, the value of online shop sales has seen a huge increase of 274% since the new website went live.
