The Wilderness Downtown

Some snazzy HTML 5 used for this interactive film, giving you an idea of what can, and will be done with it in the future.

Word of warning, DO close all other Apps on your computer before running, since it is pretty processor intensive. And if you have the Chrome browser, try it in that. Otherwise Firefox is probably your best bet!

Resistance 3 Teaser Trailer

In the world of games, Resistance 1 and 2 were quite big news for the Playstation 3, so its no surprise that they have recently announced a Resistance 3.

This teaser trailer for the game, is a beautifully shot piece of footage that hints at what is to come and leans more towards a film trailer than a game advert. Nice and moody.

Summer iPhone Apps

Summer has arrived! - It took a few years, but it finally has arrived. So there is a lot more time spent out and about, and yet I still need my fix of information. Here are a few current iPhone Apps I have been using to control my addiction:

Wimbledon App

This is a brilliant little App to keep up-to-date with all things Wimbledon. It has the latest scoreboards, which when you tilt the iPhone displays them per court that you can easily scroll though. It also has 3 wimbledon radio stations, so u can listen to the action as well as having the scoreboard visible, and easily flip between different matches.

Other useful features are the schedule of play, video clips of the daily news, information on players, tweets, photos, and Spectator information if you happen to actually be at Wimbledon. A great little App, and free!

iBooks

With the launch of the new iPhone OS4 update that is free to download, you can now enjoy some new features. However the new iBooks App doesn't just appear, you will have to download it form the iTunes store. Worth downloading, there are lots of free books to try.

Absolute Radio

If you are out on your own and bored of the music selection on your iPhone, you could download a Radio App to listen to some radio stations. I've currently tried the Absolute Radio App. Pretty simple, but has the choice of the normal Absolute Radio, a rock channel and more importantly a cheesy 80s station - ideal for the summer.

Found some interesting Apps for the iPhone or even for another phone? - leave a comment and share the love.

If you are interested you can also check out the best out and about and game apps too.

iPhone Apps - Best Games

Another great thing about the iPhone is the random games you can download to pass the time. There is an amazing range, but more often than not the best ones are the simplest ideas rather than the best graphics. I've downloads lots, and yet hardly ever return to them to be honest, however here are the ones that actually take up my random time:

Angry Birds

If you have an iPhone, you need to get Angry Birds - There is a Lite version (FREE) to try it out, but the full game is only 59p and has a hell of a lot of levels, plus free updates. The idea is simple, you catapult various birds into building blocks and have to destroy the little pigs inside to progress to the next level. Amazing addictive and easy to pick up and play.

Mr Aah

I spent a lot of my snowboarding holiday playing this on the coach ride to the resort, as did a lot of other people that lent over my shoulder. Swing the stickman onto a ledge - thats it. Again addictive with a retro look and feel. A free LITE version is available, which is all you need.

The Secret Of Monkey Island

Yep! - If you remember, this is the classic point and click adventure from the good ol' days. However it has been updated with new graphics and speech and makes ideal use of the iPhones drag and point system. Plus you can swipe the screen at any time and the graphics will change back to the original old style format - a great trip down memory lane. £4.99 I think, but worth every penny.

Know of any other decent games that pass away the hours? - There are various golf games out there that also work quite well, as do puzzle games. Post a comment if you know of anymore essential games...
