How Women Use Social Media

women in social media infographic

Social media sites are having a powerful effect on our lives. It’s important for marketers to understand how people use social networks, and Ethan Bloch of Flowtown has created a great infographic that shows how women leverage the social Web, which sites they use, and how much/why they participate.

Women are online and interacting on social sites just as much if not, more than their male counterparts. More than half of all American women participate in social media at least once a week, and younger women use it the most.

Interdirect Visits Marketing Live

Marketing Week live! logo and In-Store, Data, Insight show and Online marketing show light boxes.

The Interdirect team had a great time yesterday at Marketing Week Live! which was once again a brilliantly organised show, perhaps with the exception of the slightly cringe worthy TV channel they created and aired around the building, which resembled something usually termed as afternoon telly!

The separate but integrated layout (the Data Marketing, Insight, In Store and Online Marketing Shows) worked brilliantly and conveyed the need for a holistic perception of Marketing, and an understanding that even with the advent of social media both data and insight still have a vital part to play in the marketing mix.

We attended some great seminars as well, including a surprise talk from LinkedIn Europe’s Managing Director, Kevin Eyres and Phillips Global Online Director, Hans Notenboom on powering the professional B2B conversation in this potent form of social media.

Other great talks included the BBC’s Head of Multi Platform Planning, Holly Goodier, on using insight to shape creative strategy and O2’s Customer Director, Tim Sefton, on the mobile company’s challenger mentality and stretching the brand.
