The Brief
In 2008, the region’s leading retail destination, thecentre:mk underwent a £20million investment in order to enhance the user experience at the shopping centre. The centre wanted to showcase digital software solutions that were in line with the multi-million pound redevelopment, which would help bring the next generation of technology to shoppers.
Interdirect proved to be the ideal agency for the job; as a local contractor that knows the:centremk and the retail sector inside out, and with unrivalled successes in the shopping centre industry.
The Solution
Interdirect used its experience in the industry and its digital background to design, develop and install 14 touch screens across thecentre:mk.
The project was configured with the aim to provide a state-of-the-art interactive information and wayfinding system for visitors to the centre and to ensure that the retail destination continued to compete as one of the top ten shopping centres in the country.
The Result
The touch screen and wayfinding systems from Interdirect have been in place throughout the centre since November 2008 ensuring that shoppers are only a touch away from the latest technology to enhance the retail experience.
The systems showcase one of the most advanced technologies of its kind in the UK, allowing shoppers to get up-to-the-minute information on promotions, events and stores, incorporating the latest in digital advertising across the centre.
As a result of the success of thecentre:mk touch screens, Interdirect has since completed various projects for the shopping centre, including the design and development of its website and intranet, PR for its Christmas 2010 campaign, several re-skins of the infopods, regular email marketing campaigns, and has recently developed a bespoke iPhone application using Interdirect’s advanced content management system (CMS), SiteMachine.
Project Features/ Highlights
- Localised messages enable the centre management and Interdirect to deliver tailor made messages to each pod so that shoppers receive information about offers and events in their immediate vicinity.
- The centralised CMS enables marketing managers to push content quickly and easily to the screens, providing a paperless solution that reduces administration.
